Performance Participation Forms due 1/31 -

Please remember to have your performance participation form and theatre fee in by Jan. 31.  This helps us to begin work on our programs, and coordinating all of the VIP packets so staff and parents know who is to be where, and why!  :)

Costume orders -

Thank you all for ordering your costumes so promptly this year!  That means on time arrival, which means we have more time to do the work that we need to to coordiante all costumes iwth the appropirate headpieces and trim...:)  Lower stress for all of us!

Costume Order Packets

Packets will be sent home beginning Monday, November 23rd.  Those of you who signed up (on your registration form) to receive important e-mail updates (like studio closures and costume and performance info) should find the packet in your inbox on Mnday evening...:)

Thursday, November 19 - We are happy to announce that we have power!  That means we will hold classes, even if school is closed due to lack of power.  Yes, we usually close when the schools do for bad weather, but we see no reason to when we can offer a WARM toasty refuge for our dancers, especially those still without power! Remember that if you want to be notified when we do close for bad weather, make sure you are signed up on our e-mail list to receive those important updates, or check facebook or our web site...:)

Wednesday 2 pm update:

We have stalled as long as we can but must make the call - we still have no power and so we will not hold class today. The studio is a chilly 42 degrees!  If you would like to attend a make up class, check out the schedule on the tabs to the left and join us when it works for you.  If you need help selecting a class, please e-mail us by clicking our contact tab to the left, or pm us on facebook.  We will hold barre in the morning, but bring gloves!  We will plan a little longer barre, some intense core, and a shorter cool down stretch, so we don't cool off too quickly.  If you have never tried barre and want to get WARM, join us at 5:45 a.m. and we will offer you a free class!

Update:  Holy windstorm Batman!

The Greater Spokane Emergency Management has requested that all after activities close today in order to keep traffic minimal for emergency services.  Therefore, we will close today...:(
Make up classes may be made up as follows (but if these times do not work, please pm us for alternatives, we really dislike cancelling classes, and other than for severe snowstorms, have never done so):   For our 2:15, come Wed. at 5:30, for our 3:00 come Wed. 3:45 (Ballet 1) or Wed. 5:30
(CD II), for our 3:45 come Wed. at 4:30, for our 5:00 come Wed. at 3:45. for our 6:00 come Wed. at 3:00 (or Thurs. 6:00 pm, but this is a harder class), for our 6:45 come Wed. 3:45 or Thurs. 6:45.  For our 7:30 class check in later this week once we have heard back from Sarah on make up times (probably a Sat. rehearsal in the springtime for choreography purposes).
Please PM us for alternate times.  Also, please give us feedback:  Would you rather we close on days such as these, or rather us be open?  We don't mind staying open for whomever can make it, but also don't want people to be out on the roads if it is not safe.  Let us know please!

 Open House -

Open House is set for September 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from noon until 6 pm!  Come on in and visit the instructors, meet our staff, purchase shoes or tights, and register for fall classes.

If you register during Open House, you will be given a complimentary pair of ballet slippers to prepare you for a fun first class!
We will have cupcakes, balloons, and complimentary face painting on Tues., Sept. 1st from 3:30 - 6:30 pm (in conjunction with the Farmer's  Market held outside in the parking lot).  Call the studio at 467-0765 for more info...:)

Auditions Class -

Nutcracker auditions are coming up in only two weeks, and when winter arrives, intensives for summer intensives begin, so we will be holding our annual audition class next on both Tues. and Thurs. from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 for other first day, the second day is free to those who attended the first. We will allow registration by commenting below, but if you take a spot we do expect you to attend (obvious yes, but we mention this because on Facebook, people often say they are attending a event, a spot is held, and they don't show up). This class is for ages 6 through teens, and will teach a dancer how to best present oneself at an audition, how to dress, where to stand, and the importance of learning quickly, and how to do so. If you have questions, please ask! smile emoticon

Nutcracker Auditions -

Nutcracker fun!  Auditions are now scheduled for Sunday Sept. 13th, and will be held at Gonzaga Theatre and Dance Studio Building at 1108 North Pearl.  Please arrive half hour prior to audition to register and warm up.

Times and height requirements are as follows -

1:00 - 1:45  Girls 13 and up, pointe shoes required, height 4'1-" - 5'7"

1:45 - 3:45  Boys and Girls, ages 10 and up, height 4'10" - 5'7"

3:45 - 5:15   Girls ages 8-11, ages 7-11, height 3'6" - 4'10"

5:15 - 6:30  Girls ages 7-11, height 3'6" - 4'10"

Please know that times are approximate, and often, children that are not chosen at one audition are asked to stay for another.  Also, roles for the above auditions can be speculated upon, but are not announced by State Street Ballet in advance.  If you audition and are chosen, you are expected to follow through with all rehearsals and performances.  Attendance at every rehearsal is required, so if you know that you will be out of town and will not be able to attend all rehearsals, please do not audition.

If you have questions, please see Studio Director Janine Fraser.
